A.B. Paterson loved the bush and wrote as bush folk would. It is this that made his poetry popular with them as well as city dwellers. His works still echo with the crack of whip and thunder of hoof. His characters are real and live on the page, belonging to the true tradition. The Banjo and his words will survive as long as the bush lives in the hearts and minds of Australians everywhere.
